NEW THRICE!!!
Vhiessu (pronounced "vee-soo") will be the best record of 2005.
I can't wait to go hang out with them again at Warped Tour in a few weeks, and I can't wait to hear the new music. They posted the lyrics to one of the new songs:
IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE
we're more than carbon and chemicals
free will is ours and we can't let go
we can't allow this, the quiet cull
so we sing out this, our canticle
we are the image of the invisible
we all were lost now we are found
no one can stop us or slow us down
we are all named and we are all known
we know that we'll never walk alone
we're more than static and dial tone
we're emblematic of the unknown
raise up the banner, bend back your bows
remove the cancer, take back your souls
we are the image of the invisible
though all the world may hate us, we are named
though shadow overtake us, we are known

These guys are saying important things in new and exciting ways. Seriously, this is a band everyone should love because they are one of a few bands speaking directly to the experiences and defining the voice of our generation. They are incredibly gracious, humble, generous and kind people (a sizeable portion of every record they've ever sold goes to charity) and they are extremely talented and creative.
I talk about them a lot because I am inspired by their work. So if my previous Thrice-related ramblings haven't moved you to look into them, I urge you again. Download some of their music (powerful and moving), read some of their lyrics (deep and meaningful), and get to know the band that deserves every success it achieves.
Our generation is reaching the age when we begin to define ourselves in history. Personally, I want my generation to be known for giving the world something like Thrice rather than the generic, streamlined, focus-group tested, watered down doggerel (look it up) of some soulless, mindless, corporate sponsored, dime a dozen pop princess.
Thus endeth the lesson.
